We are looking for a Social Care Assistants to join our team in a newly developed, client centred focused, residential service in Castlebar. If you think you have the compassion, strength, and knowledge to help people with disability reach their full potential in their home and in their community, this role will be a good opportunity for you. Our client’s safety and wellbeing are of utmost importance. Our Service aims to support our Clients to enable them to make their own choices to achieve their goals irrespective of their needs and challenges.

Job Purpose

To support service users with varying disabilities in their home and community settings.

Requirements

Candidates should have an understanding, knowledge and experience of working with clients with disability and be able to maintain a high standard of care in line with Communicare’s policy and procedures while ensuring that HIQA standards and regulations are maintained within the service. Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Health & Social Care Skills and knowledge in the areas of Intellectual Disability, Mental Health Issues and Physical & Sensory Needs. Full Clean Driving license.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Facilitate and implement a person centered service appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of service users. Help in all aspects of personal care ensuring dignity, comfort and hygiene of service users. Adhering to safe practice at all times. Assist service users in the taking of medication in line with policy and procedure. Ensure that all interactions with service users are approached with dignity, respect, equality and incorporating choice.
