National Workplace Wellbeing Day
Today is National Workplace Wellbeing day. The goal of the event is to help improve employee health and wellness through the promotion of better nutrition and physical activity. Companies throughout the country are encouraged to participate in the event.
One of the things that we’re planning for our office is a healthy eating day and we’re going to start with healthy smoothies.
Here are our top 3, super easy to make and super healthy smoothies.
Peanut Butter, Banana & Honey!
First up is a Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey smoothie that’s packed with protein and healthy fats. This a really filling smoothie that makes a great addition to your breakfast rotation or take it after a tough work out and it can help replenish the body.
What’s needed?
- 2 bananas, broken into chunks
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons honey, or to taste
- 2 cups ice cubes
Method
Place the bananas, milk, peanut butter, honey and ice cubes in a blender; blend until smooth, this should only take about 30 seconds, then serve and enjoy!
Orange & Banana
Next up we have a recipe for an orange and banana smoothie. The benefits of this are that’s it’s packed with Vitamin C, fibre and potassium. Feel free to tweak the recipe to your taste, adding strawberries will turn the smoothie pink and adding blueberries will turn it purple. Delish!
What’s needed?
- 1 cup cold milk
- 2 oranges, peeled and segmented
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 (8 ounce) container vanilla fat-free yogurt
- 4 cubes ice
Method
In a blender, combine milk, oranges, banana, sugar, salt and yogurt. Blend for about 1 minute. Add the ice cubes, and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
Endless Energy Green Smoothie
Finally we have a recipe for a smoothie with spinach, kiwi and pineapple. Green smoothies tend to packed full of goodness to help give you a lasting source of energy throughout the day. We recommend using almond milk as it is low in fat and high in protein and fibre. Spinach is high in iron, protein, fibre, zinc and a number of vitamins including A, C, E, K & B6.
Lime can help with weight loss, it’s great for your skin and can help improve digestion. Pineapples contain a bunch of vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to your body, but they also contain an enzyme called bromelain, which is primarily associated with breaking down complex proteins and has serious anti-inflammatory effects, which includes the ability to reduce the inflammation of joints and muscles, particularly those associated with arthritis.
What’s needed?
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 1 kiwi, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped pineapple
- 1/2 cup ice
Method
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, you’re going to need a blender! Blend almond milk, kiwi, spinach, pineapple and ice in a blender until smooth.
Smoothies are a quick and easy way to sneak really healthy ingredients into your diet. They have fantastic health benefits including improved digestion, can help build muscle, strengthen your immune system, can supply your body with more short and long term energy and can be hugely beneficial for your skin, hair nails and bones.
