International Women’s Day 2022

International Women’s Day 2022

On this day, 8th March 2022, International Women’s Day, which marks the importance of why women should be treated equally without any bias or prejudice, let us turn a spotlight on our company.

Communicare Healthcare is a company founded by a woman run by a woman and employing many women, at all levels of the company. Even in 2022, in Europe, our company is unusual and therefore noteworthy and something of which to be proud. 16 billion hours of unpaid care work happens every day across the globe. This work largely falls on women and increases in times of crisis.

Today let’s applaud Communicare’s Carers, women and men, who provide care to the most vulnerable people in society. Our Carers, who are dedicated to improving the lives of our Clients every day.

Sadly, even in Ireland today, being a woman brings additional danger.

Let us remember Aisling Murphy, RIP, we see the flowers to commemorate her short but brilliant life across the canal from our office in Tullamore. Only when we achieve real gender equality will women and girls be free of violence, and only then will they be able to live safe, happy, and fulfilled lives.

Let us also remember the women and children suffering today in the Ukraine; in a war they played no part in creating.

The Theme for International Women’s Day this year is:

Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Both women and men working in natural resource sectors, such as agriculture, are likely to be affected by climate change. Women are recognised as more vulnerable to climate change impacts than men, as it amplifies existing gender inequalities and women constitute the majority of the world’s poor and are more dependent on the natural resources which climate change threatens the most.

Equality is a fundamental principle that is important in every society.

All people should be treated fairly, no matter their gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or any other aspect of who they are. The belief in equality is what has led to great social change throughout history and is what will continue to create a world that could be better for all of us.

So, on this special day, and every day, be kind, show respect to everyone. Remember we are all the same and we are all just trying to survive every day. As we well know from the work we do in Communicare; some people’s daily struggle to survive is more challenging than others.

Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!
